ABOUT OUR FUNK
VooDoo FuNK are an American Funk Rock Band formed in 2016 by Producer/Bassist Sammy Free. Creating their funky sound by combining flavors from New Orleans Funk/Blues, Memphis Soul, FUNK, Rock, and Jazz. The Ten-member band bring decades of live performance and musical experience from some of the best institutions including Berklee College of Music, The Cleveland Institute of Music, The Ohio State University, Michigan State University, The New England Conservatory of Music, Cleveland State University, Percussive Arts Society, and of course, The School of Hard Knocks.

VooDoo FuNK deliver a raw, immersive performance, showcasing a 4 Piece Horn Section & Rhythm Section of Drums, Percussions, & Washboard. Taking the audience on a FuNKy journey into the musical swamps. Drawing influence from legendary Artists, The Meters, The Neville Brothers, Little Feat, Tower of Power, Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, The Revivalists, and many others, VooDoo FuNK write, record, & perform their own eclectic mix of Supercharged FuNK.

Driving the FuNK Train. John started drumming in 1971 and moved into drumming professionally in 1978. He is well versed in most styles of music with a love for Jazz. John is currently gigging and recording 150+ dates per year with various artists and projects. John also Owns, Operates, and Teaches at a 5 Star Pro Drum Shop STEBAL DRUMS since 1996.
